William Alexander Sammons, bn 1877, died 1954, enlisted with the Veterinary Corp on 9 May 1916 as a driver, then switching to the 1st Bn, Wellington Infantry Regt. He was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal on 31 Jan 1919 “for recognition of valuable services rendered with the armies in France and Flanders”. Re-enlisting on 2nd Aug 1942, he served as a S/Sgt with Ordinance at Trentham until 12 Mar 1948, receiving the BEM in the Kings Birthday Honours of 1946. Court Mounted with copies or records.
