MEDALS, MILITARY, GB WATERLOO MEDAL 1815, impressed to ** JAMES ARUNDLE, 10th ROYAL REG. HUSSARS. **, MYB 99, silver, with original clip & contemporary straight bar suspension & ribbon, e/k's. James Arundle fought in the 10th Royal Hussars as part of the 6th Cavalry Brig commanded by Major Gen Sir Richard Vivian Hussey which charged the French cavalry and infantry at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. The regiment was posted on the Duke of Wellington's left flank, later in the afternoon moved to support the centre line which was under pressure from Napoleon's Imperial Guard, making the final charge of the day just south of La Haye Sainte with Vandeleur's Cavalry Brigade, Adam's Infantry Brigade and Wellington's lead for the last stand of the Guard. During the battle, the 10th Hussars with a unit of 390, suffered 94 casualties, 22 killed, 46 wounded & 26 missing. Arundle was also entitled to the Sahagun & Benevente 1808, Vittoria 1813 & Toulouse 1814 clasps. Ex Seabys 1975. gF
